The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Requirements:
- academic or practical background in materials science/metallurgy/welding
- BSc or MSc in material science/metallurgy or related subjects
- gamiliarity with technical drawings and specifications
- good verbal and written English is a must
- capability of multi-tasking and working to agreed schedules
- good communication/cooperation skills
- computer literate
Duties:
- Materials Engineer will support Engineering Teams and Projects in a field of materials, metallurgy, non-destructive examinations (NDE), coatings, welding
- Reviewing of Materials, NDE, Coating and Welding documentation against national and customer codes and requirements (i.e. ASME, API, ISO)
- advising on materials selection
- creation/review of material/manufacturing/coating/welding specifications
- customer/supplier interfacing on materials issues
- undertake material reviews including design and environmental reviews
- support welding activities
- disposition of supplier non-conformances
- reviewing supplier coating and NDE procedures against client requirements
- maintaining clear communication with Materials Engineering Teams with regard to workload and technical issues
- investigating new technologies for product enhancement
- interpretation customer specifications for major projects to produce design specifications
- identifying improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications
