The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Requirements:

  • B.Sc., M.Sc. or PhD in material science/metallurgy or related subjects
  • academic or practical background in materials science/metallurgy/welding/brazing/heat treatment
  • good knowledge of the materials and their properties (stainless/heat resistant steels, nickel and cobalt base alloys)
  • familiarity with special processes (welding, brazing, thermal spray coatings)
  • very good verbal and written English
  • good communication/cooperation/teamwork skills

Duties:

  • provide technical expertise on materials for repair development projects
  • advising on filler materials selection (welding, brazing) and heat treatment
  • support of welding/brazing activities
  • close cooperation with Materials Laboratory
  • creation/review of material/welding/brazing specifications
  • identifying of improvements in existing procedures/processes and develop cost effective solutions
  • active participation in cost reduction projects/activities
