The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Currently EDC is working on the products of three GE Infrastructure businesses: GE Aviation, GE Energy, GE Oil&Gas. www.edcpolska.pl
Requirements:
- MSc in Engineering
- FEA experience (ANSYS preferred)
- Fluent English
- Basic understanding of steam turbine design fundamentals
- Design for producibility mindset
- DESIRED:
- Understanding of basic pressure vessel lifing (Creep, LCF, combined damage principles and brittle fracture)
- High temperature bolted joint fundamentals knowledge
- NDT working knowledge of the capability of the: LPI, MT, UT and RT
- Fundamental knowledge of the large sand casting processes and impact on design
- Basic understanding of material, material processes and their impact on design
- General understanding of welding repair / upgrades (Heat treatment options, effect on shell design and lifing)
Duties:
- Execute with minimal guidance FE analysis (SS and transient thermal & thermo-mechanical)
- Recommend approach to lead NPI in order to meet technical and program requirements. Create and implement plans to achieve program goals within budget and schedule. Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Active participation in cost reduction initiatives
- Assure proper technical documentation is generated
- Introducing CID (change in design) according to engineering procedure and policies
- Providing timely communication on significant issues or developments
- Providing manufacturing support: NCN (Non conformance notification) and SDR (supplier deviation request) disposition
