The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in engineering design
- Minimum 1 year experience in finite element analysis
- ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability and availability to travel
- DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in Project management
- Experience in Design of composite structures
- Experience in Finite element modeling using Analysis
- Experience in Wind blade design
- Experience in Unigraphics or CATIA, particularly in CATIA composites modeling tools· Experience in Matlab
- Experience in Composite processing
- Proven ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions
- Strong desire and ability to drive improvement and change
- Technical drawing and design interpretation background
- Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
Duties:
- Responsibilities include optimized structural design of composite wind turbine blades while interacting with systems, loads, aero, manufacturing, and field service teams to develop high-value wind turbine composite structures with high reliability under tight time constraintsActivities to be performed in this position include some or all of the following:
- Development of new analysis methods and tools
- Structural design of fiberglass and carbon fiber structures using finite element models for buckling, strength and fatigue life analyses· Certification of new component designs
- Support for new design qualifications with suppliers
- Evolution of design tools for blade optimization, design cycle reduction, and reliability improvement
- Large-scale extreme and fatigue testing
- Subarticle test design and execution
- Supplier Deviation Request disposition
