Engineer - Heat Exchangers

Employer description:

The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Currently EDC is working on the products of three GE Infrastructure businesses: GE Aviation, GE Energy, GE Oil&Gas. www.edcpolska.pl

Requirements:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• minimum of 2 years experience either specifying shell and tube heat exchangers or utilizing heat exchanger rating programs, such as HTRI or equivalent
• Desired:
• hands-on vessel and/or heat exchanger manufacturing experience
• experience specifying plate and frame heat exchangers
• experience specifying air-to-air heat exchangers
• experience with large heat exchangers (>3m)
• experience with PED directives as they relate to heat exchangers
• experience with heat exchanger cooling water recommendations and water treatment options
• experience with gas turbine waste heat recovery systems
• candidate must be thorough, accurate, with good communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision

Duties:

• evaluate current intercooler design (plate and fin heat exchanger) for design improvements
• determine performance impact on intercooler associated with customer specific operating conditions
• evaluate significant alternative design proposals of current intercooler design, including extra heat capacity and modified materials
• perform occasional field troubleshooting
• coordinate potential large air-to-air heat exchanger design effort
• provide accurate and detailed reports and presentations of results
