Agricultural/Mechanical Engineer

Chieftain Palm Oil Mills trading as CPOM (Worldwide) Ltd manufactures and installs small and intermediate scale mills for processing palm oil in West Africa. Our business is to meet the needs of smallholders by giving them access to efficient milling technology. Chieftain’s small scale mills create a large number of jobs and add measurable shared value within the local communities. Chieftain Mills are built in the Kraków area.

Wymagania:

• a young mechanical engineer with some experience of assembling electrical installations (some welding experience will be useful too) wanted on a short term contract, beginning in September, to help install a small scale palm oil mill in West Africa. This contract may lead to a full time job with Chieftain Mills as the supervisory engineer in charge of installations and mill training throughout West Africa for the right candidate who is prepared to learn the trade during this initial contract
• the ideal candidate will be a young engineer with several year's engineering experience
• he/she will be practical, know about machinery and how to keep it working in a tough environment
• he/she will have an adventurous spirit, an enquiring mind and be independent and self-sufficient
• he/she will need to speak good English. This is a challenging environment in which to work but it is very rewarding work
• you will need a full passport and a driving licence (international if possible)

Zakres obowiązków:

• to work closely with the Chief Engineer supervising the assembly of the mill, installation of the electrics and installation of the water and oil pipes and pumps
• to help train and supervise the local work force
• to learn about the techniques and processes of palm oil production from an experienced chief engineer
• to work in the field and learn about cultivation of palm from experienced farmers
• management of a labour force
• we are always looking to improve our technology so there will also be the opportunity to become involved in research and design work
