Main Technologist/Engineer Pilot Plant

Based in Poznan is a Research & Development department of Unilever, where a multinational team of experts work to develop soups, sauces and ketchups for the European market. We are now the first Regional Foods Development Centre in Central and Eastern Europe and we focus on Wet Foods development. The R&D centre employs many R&D professionals from different countries. Unilever has invested in a new building and world-class R&D facilities.
Requirements:
- > 3-5 yrs experience as engineer in FMCG manufacturing or comparable proven projects
- technical degree in Food processing, mechanical, electrical, chemical, process engineering or similar
- electrical entitlement SEP up to 1kV
- PLC & pneumatic systems trouble shooting ability
- experience in TPM implementation
- independent, pro-active and solution oriented mindset
- good organizational & communicative skills
- co-leading and inspiring project teams
- fluency in English, spoken and in writing
- fully operational in MS Office; technical drawing skills will be an advantage
- experience in microwave processing will be an advantage
Duties:
- define detailed technical equipment needs in close cooperation with the processing team members and the project team members as well as sourcing unit engineers
- cooperate closely with equipment suppliers to specify equipment capable of delivering innovations / innovative solutions
- identify, address and resolve problems in the course of machinery choice, design and specification. Ensure that the product/process developed is in compliance with legal and regulatory law including hygienic design of equipment
- support CapEx proposal generation and execution
- monitor and verify / validate installation and commissioning of equipment in close cooperation with other R&D team members and engineers / technicians of involved production locations
- provide state of art up scaling knowledge, allowing industrialization of kitchen product prototypes and benchmarks in line with marketing brief, as well as in line with Product Safety, GMP and Best Practice guidelines
- take part in the day to day operation of the Pilot plant, maintenance and acquisition of equipment, planning and trial execution
- provide support in electrical and software maintenance for the pilot plant
- support analysis of trial results and interpret these to achieve necessary equipment optimization
- implement TPM pillars in Unilever RDC
- support setting and enable execution of the technology agenda for the liquid foods RDC
- establish and maintain cooperation with the main current equipment suppliers and identify innovative new suppliers
- contribute to the liquid foods RDC as an inspiring place to work, contribute to the site culture and group / team building events
- ensure the compliance of the pilot plant facilities and all related activities to the Unilever Code of Business Principles and all SHE and QA policies, including risk management and environmental awareness & legislation
