The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation.
EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation.
Currently EDC is working on the products of three GE Infrastructure businesses: GE Aviation, GE Energy, GE Oil&Gas. www.edcpolska.pl
Requirements:
- ANSYS experience - 2D and 3D modeling and analysis - Proficient in running transient thermal and thermal mechanical and long term creep analysis
- a strong understanding of pressure vessel design coupled with a basic understanding of steam turbine design fundamentals
- advance lifing techniques - Fracture mechanics lifing principles. i.e. LCF and Creep Crack propagation Combined damage principles and Brittle Fracture
- fundamentals of large sand casting processes and impact on design
- welding expertise - understanding of welding repair/upgrades, Heat treatment options, and their effect on shell design and lifing
- design for producibility mindset (both in terms of castability, and in-terms of finish machining)
- high temperature bolted joint design fundamentals
- sound understanding of materials, material processes, and how they impact material capability
- NDT - working knowledge of the capability of the following NDT methods: LPI, MT, UT and RT
- Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- minimum 5 years of experience for Lead Engineer position / 10 years of experience for Senior Engineer position
- engineering experience in structural design
- Finite Element Analysis and / or CFD capability
- experience working with global resources
- demonstrated Project leadership skills with the mindset to handle several competing tasks
- Prior Steam Turbine or Turbomachinery component design experience specifically in Main Steam
- Valve or High Pressure Shell design
Duties:
- lead component design team in execution of New Product Introduction, Custom Design requisitions and Customer support activities for the New Units, and Aftermarket / Services businesses
- follow Tollgate Process from Conceptual Design thru field validation for all Steam Turbine Valve and HP Shell designs for the broad range of turbine output
- drive technology advancements for the Steam Valves and Shells from a System, subsystems, components and material / life vantage points
- utilize drafting resources to execute assigned tasks working closely with manufacturing and sourcing.
- work closely with Application Engineering and System Integrators to drive platform strategy for structuring and technology enhancements
- review and lead appropriate engineering analysis to ensure robust designs that meet all technical requirements
- maximize task completion by leveraging design, analytical and requisition capability of the Valve and Shell Components group in all of the Global Development Centers
- provide factory and sourcing support on quality initiatives to drive reduction in Cost of Quality issues and Direct Material Productivity
- work with all Global Steam Turbine Technology teams to drive common analytical and execution approach
- leverage Research Center, Aircraft Engines, Gas Turbine, and Global Design Centers to drive productivity and technology
